About the Author - Richard H. Veihl

Richard H. Veihl and sonsRichard Harold Veihl never fancied himself as an author. In fact, even now, it would be a surprising to hear him refer to himself as anything other than a humble Christian, a proud father of two sons, or a CPA. And while he is all of those things, he has, through the course of living, writing, rewriting, and publishing his story, indeed become an author with quite a message to share.

A graduate of Michigan State University with a bachelor's degree in accounting, Veihl was on the fast track even before he graduated from college. He admits to choosing Accounting because it seemed to be a field in which he could earn a lot of money. Plowing full-speed ahead as an ambitious man determined to be a millionaire by age forty, Veihl certainly was successful by all conventional standards. By age 32, he had his own accounting practice, a beautiful home, all the material comforts, a devoted wife and two sons, Sawyer and Nicholas.

But, by totaling lacking focus of what was really important, (at time he questions if he ever really knew that in the first place), Veihl found himself devoid of everything. Living in a weekly rate motel room, Veihl literally had to start over in all phases of his life. Wisely and painfully, he began with himself.

The result is Out the Other Side, Veihl's personal journal that evolved into a literary work that everyone -- regardless of their past, current or ensuing station in life -- will read while shaking their heads in agreement.

"I didn't write this book to become rich or famous. I wrote this book to commit thoughts to action; thoughts that I found myself saying over and over, day after day."

These thoughts he is referring to are the lessons he learned and it is his desire to share them in a much broader sense, primarily to reinforce his own understanding.

He now lives in Clinton Township, Michigan and is the owner of Veihl Consulting Group, P.C. an accounting and business consulting firm in Mount Clemens, Michigan. He spends as much time as possible with his sons and takes in a baseball game whenever he can.
